The Garrett GT and GTX series are all dual ball-bearing, finely balanced, and oil- and water-cooled. There is also the older T series, which are mostly journal-bearing. The GTX series differs from the standard GT in that it features a special, larger compressor wheel with more blades, leading to increased performance and slightly better response. It is important for the ball-bearing turbocharger not to receive too much oil pressure. Therefore, an oil restrictor with a 0.9mm bore is used. A ball-bearing turbo responds approximately 400-500 RPM sooner than a journal-bearing one.
