Flywheels are elements of the drivetrain and serve to contain vibrations. The need for 1.8T flywheels lies in the unevenness with which rotational vibrations affect the car. It also depends on the number of cylinders - the more there are, the smoother the engine runs. To offer more comfortable driving, the flywheel is located at the end of the crankshaft, where it compensates for the irregularity of the vibrations - and for other practical reasons: Because by storing the energy generated by the engine, the car can, for example, bridge idle strokes and act as an energy supplier exactly when the engine does not, like at dead centers.

Thus, a flywheel creates a more constant smooth running of the car. Located in constant motion, this round-designed component means you only receive quality parts in our online shop. Dynamically fine-balanced and made of tested steel, our flywheels are the right pieces for your car. Here, single-mass flywheels offer the advantages of having a lower weight and thus less rotational mass and cannot break. However, drivers must prepare for the famous "gear rattle," which activates certain parts and thus causes rattling through vibrations. The alternative is the DMF - the Dual Mass Flywheel, which you can of course also find in our range for your vehicle.

    The Dual Mass Flywheel

The use of the Dual Mass Flywheel has almost become the established standard today and is found in most modern vehicles. To keep the vibrations generated by the engine away from the gearbox, this flywheel must always be precisely matched to the vehicle model - you can comfortably find information on each item in the product description.

The special feature of the DMF: As the name suggests, it consists of two masses, which are linked by a clutch . They are referred to as primary and secondary flywheels and offer maximum function through their internal construction of a soft clutch and sliding bearings! A system that has proven itself by containing excess vibrations. However, make sure to check compatibility before purchasing a new 1.8T flywheel to avoid causing any damage.

    Recognizing Symptoms of a Fault

To guarantee an optimal lifespan, we offer you exclusively 1.8T flywheels that meet the prescribed standard. A4, Audi S3, or Golf4 - simply match your vehicle type with the description of the flywheel. But when should you consider a new flywheel? It's best to be able to recognize the symptoms of a defect quickly:

    • Burning smells inside the vehicle are noticeable
    • the engine speed does not match the speed
    • the clutch pedal emits vibrations
    • unusual, loud noises when operating the clutch
    • strange sounds are heard when changing gears

Causes of these disturbances can be, for example, chronic driving at too low a speed or continuous overheating of the engine - thus, a reasonable driving style remains the best choice for a long lifespan of the components. If you have questions about installing the flywheel or would like to know if an element also fits your vehicle, feel free to contact turbp-parts.de - here, you will be assisted with technical knowledge. 1.8T tuning is a community affair!
