Do not be confused, because in the tuning scene, the well-known pop-off valve has many names, but it always refers to the same component. Thus, a blow-off valve, or a release valve, is nothing other than a pop-off valve. This useful element gets its name from its functions. Because the mentioned valve takes care of the excess pressure in the intake tract and ensures a controlled release.

The throttle valve necessitates the pop-off valve. When you press the accelerator pedal and accelerate your car, the exhaust turbine is set in motion by the exhaust flow – the air in the intake tract is compressed and the pressure rises. If you then decide to cancel the acceleration, the throttle valve closes – but the turbocharger continues to run due to the previously mentioned exhaust flow. It quickly becomes clear that pressure is building up here, which cannot escape through the closed valve – and this is exactly where the 1.8T pop-off valve comes into play. The additional "drain" allows the pressure to escape and counters accelerated material fatigue. There are two different valves to distinguish between:

    Open Valves

Here, advantage and disadvantage go hand in hand: Unlike the closed model, the air is directed from the vehicle into the atmosphere during discharge, creating the "hiss" that many tuners want to achieve. The downside: The hiss comes from the expulsion of air already measured by the mass air flow sensor, whereby an incorrect value of air always reaches the calculated amount of fuel – problems with the engine can be the result.

    Closed Valves

Models, such as the Alu Pop-Off Piston Valve can be found in our online shop as a so-called "closed valve". This designation means that the released pressure is not emitted to the outside environment but led back into the intake tract. The 1.8 Turbo tuning for pop-off valves is suitable for vehicles that use a turbocharger from the factory – perfect for improving the lifespan of the car.

    What advantages can you expect?

The 1.8T tuning is as versatile as the models and car brands it can be applied to. From replacing entire turbochargers, over the racing catalytic converter , to entirely new clutches everything is included.

    • optimized, faster responsive vehicle behavior
    • aluminum and steel make the valves durable and safe
    • maximally stable and operational even under high pressure
    • depending on the valve, the element is available in different colors

As with all parts from our assortment, they are approved components, which means that their functionality is stable and safe for the vehicle and driver. However, not all elements are approved for public road traffic, which is why we would like to emphasize again for the open valve: Only allowed for racing! If you are not sure which parts are suitable for the road for tuning, TÜV is the highest distance – only with the corresponding permission is your vehicle legally drivable after the conversion.
